Eligibility
Middle School and High School students living and/or studying in Connecticut, Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties in New York, and Bergen County, New Jersey.

Junior Division
Ages 10–13 (as of April 1, 2026)
Senior Division:
Ages 14–18 (as of April 1, 2026)
Repertoire Requirements
Junior Division
Solo:
Compulsory work: Song Without Words, Opus 85, no. 1 by Felix Mendelssohn
A Baroque or Romantic work or
An American work (Jazz compositions are acceptable)

Four Hands (at least one member must be a Junior and a past JYPPC winner)
Compulsory work: Mother Goose Suite

A contrasting work for piano four hands
Note: the student must alternate the position for the second piece. Repertoire does NOT have to be performed from memory. Students can be from different teachers. All Students may compete in a solo competition in the proper solo

Compulsory work: Nocturne in G Minor, H. 337 by Fanny Mendelssohn.
A Boroque work
A work from the 19th, 20th, or 21st Centuries
An American work (Jazz compositions are acceptable)
All works must be for solo acoustic piano, and all repertoire must be performed from memory.

These prizes are provisional, and the jury reserves the right to award selected prizes.
All decisions of the competition jury are final.
**Winning contestants must perform in the recital in order to receive their prize.
